Electronic Commerce is a popular term and is used to describe a variety of scenarios. Arguably, it can be traced back as far as the 1970’s with the advent of electronic funds transfer (EFT) between banks using secure private networks. The 1970’s are also significant in that the birth of the Internet occurred but it wasn’t until the early 1990’s that the World Wide Web came about. It is the Internet phenomenon, which has led to the current attention in Electronic Commerce.

For the purpose of Cybecom, Electronic Commerce is defined as:

“A way of doing business using communications tools such as the Internet, Intranet, Extranet to connect business systems directly to customers, suppliers, employees or any other related parties.”

Cybecom’s core competencies include:

developing web strategies which either replace or complement overall business strategies;
project management of Electronic Commerce implementations;
making recommendations on issues relating to Internet security;
